Top 10 Best Gyms in India (2026): Leading Fitness Chains Compared
Compare the best gyms in India for 2026: Cult.fit, Anytime Fitness, Gold's Gym and more, with verified scale, Talwalkars' status and a buyer's guide.

Ten years ago, signing up for a gym in India meant a neighborhood weight room, a one-year contract with payment due in advance, and a trainer judged by his biceps. But times have changed quickly.
Today, a fitness buff in Bengaluru can hop between a strength floor, a boxing class and a yoga studio with a single app pass. A night-shift worker in Lucknow can open the door to a gym at 2 a.m. with a key fob. And a cricket icon now has his name on a premium fitness brand that is expanding beyond the big metros.
Of course, not everyone has thrived. Talwalkars, for decades one of India’s best-known gym brands, spent years in insolvency proceedings and has dropped out of the race. In contrast, Cult.fit has grown into India’s largest organized fitness network and is gearing up for an IPO, while international brands such as Anytime Fitness and Crunch continue to add clubs.
With so many options, which chains are worth your hard-earned money in 2026? We dug through company filings, official announcements and recent business coverage to find out which brands are operating today, how big they are and what they offer. This guide looks at the best gyms in India for 2026, explains how we ranked them and gives you a practical checklist to use before you sign any contract.
How We Ranked the Best Gyms in India
Here we evaluate gym chains and fitness brands, not individual gym locations. One local gym in your neighborhood might be fantastic, but it cannot serve readers across the country. Instead, we looked at four factors.
- Verified scale: the number of centres and cities each brand reports, using the most recent dated figure we could confirm from company statements, regulatory filings or business media.
- Operating status in 2026: every brand on this list is open and taking members. We left out chains that are inactive or under insolvency.
- Training offer: the range of formats (strength, group classes, functional training, recovery) and access options such as 24/7 entry or multi-gym passes.
- Brand track record: how long the brand has operated in India and who runs it locally.
Rates change by city, branch and time of year, and many franchise clubs set their own prices. That’s why we do not list fees here. The best advice? Always ask the specific branch for a written quote.
What Happened to Talwalkars?
For years, lists of the top 10 best gyms in India featured Talwalkars near the top. That is no longer the case. Talwalkars Better Value Fitness went through the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process, and an NCLT order dated February 26, 2026, approved a reconstituted board and cancelled the company’s existing equity shares. The listed company reported nil revenue for the six months ended September 30, 2025, and its shares remain suspended from trading. Some gyms may still use the name, but Talwalkars no longer qualifies as a leading national chain, so it is not part of our 2026 ranking.

Top 10 Best Gyms in India (2026)
Here are the ten gym chains that lead the Indian market in 2026, ranked by verified scale, training offer and track record.
1. Cult.fit
Cult.fit is India’s largest fitness network by a significant margin. It was founded in 2016 by Mukesh Bansal, Ankit Nagori, Rishabh Telang and Deepak Poduva. As of March 31, 2026, the Bengaluru-based company had 708 fitness centres across 77 cities, it disclosed in its draft IPO prospectus. Of those, 218 are company-owned, 288 are franchise-run and 202 are partner gyms operated by independent owners. It counts more than 9.87 lakh paid members and reported ₹1,720.6 crore of operating revenue in FY26.
Choice is Cult.fit’s key member benefit. Buy one cultpass and you can access group classes, gym floors, sports facilities and at-home workouts. Passes are sold in four tiers: Home, Pro, Elite and Play. Cult.fit also owns or operates Gold’s Gym and Fitness First in India. In October 2026, SEBI issued its final observations on the company’s IPO papers. Cult.fit’s CEO is Naresh Krishnaswamy.
Known for:
✔ Trainer-led group classes in strength, yoga, dance and boxing
✔ Cult Elite and the lower-priced Cult Neo formats
✔ One pass that works across many centres and partner gyms
Best for: people who get bored easily and want variety in a big city.
2. Anytime Fitness
Anytime Fitness entered India in 2013 and is now one of the country’s best-known 24/7 gym brands. In October 2026, the chain said it had crossed 200 clubs in more than 45 cities, with over two lakh members. Managing Director Vikas Jain is targeting 500 clubs across India by 2030, with growth planned in metros and fast-emerging tier-two cities. Anytime Fitness has more than 5,800 clubs worldwide.
Almost every Indian club is operated by a local franchise partner. This has helped the chain reach Lucknow, Dehradun, Indore and Jaipur as well as Delhi NCR and Mumbai. You get 24/7 access to the club with a personal key fob, though staffed hours vary by location.
Known for:
✔ 24/7 access to the gym floor
✔ A wide network across metros and smaller cities
✔ Personal training and coaching programs at most clubs
Best for: shift workers, frequent travelers and anyone with an unpredictable schedule.
3. Gold’s Gym India
Gold’s Gym is one of the oldest names in fitness. Joe Gold started the first Gold’s Gym in Venice, California, in 1965, and the brand is now owned by Germany’s RSG Group, which acquired it in 2020. In India, Gold’s Gym has been run since February 2022 by F2 Fun & Fitness, the master franchise company in which Cult.fit holds a majority stake. At the time of that deal, Gold’s Gym India had more than 140 outlets in over 90 cities.
Gold’s has kept its reputation as a gym for serious strength training, and Cult.fit now positions it as one of its premium formats. Research by location-data firm GapMaps in 2023 found that Gold’s Gym was present in every one of India’s largest metro markets, the widest coverage of any brand it tracked. You can expect expansive free-weight zones, plenty of machines to isolate individual muscles and floors that cater to bodybuilders as well as beginners.
Known for:
✔ Classic bodybuilding and strength heritage
✔ Large weight floors and cardio zones
✔ Personal training at most locations
Best for: lifters who want plenty of equipment and serious training partners.
4. Snap Fitness
Snap Fitness was one of the earliest global gym chains to bring 24/7 clubs to India. Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Chanhassen, Minnesota, Snap entered India in 2008 through Force Fitness India, with its first clubs planned for Bengaluru and Mumbai. Its corporate parent, Lift Brands, lists India among the chain’s international markets, and Snap had 1,036 locations worldwide in the Franchise Times Top 400 ranking for 2025.
Compact and no-nonsense sum up Snap Fitness. Forget day spas and juice bars. What you get is a well-equipped workout floor that’s near your home or office and open whenever you want to go. The format appeals to time-strapped professionals who want a quick workout before work or after dinner rather than a half-day club visit. Many Snap clubs in India are franchise-run, so facilities and fees vary. That also makes it important to visit a club before you join.
Known for:
✔ 24/7 access in many clubs
✔ Neighborhood-sized gyms with a strength and cardio focus
✔ Personal training at many clubs
Best for: people who want a no-frills gym close to home.
5. Fitness First
Fitness First built its name in India with premium, full-service clubs in Delhi NCR and Mumbai. In May 2018, CureFit, the company behind Cult.fit, acquired Fitness First’s Indian business, which at the time had 10 premium centres and around 10,000 members. The deal was struck with investment firm Oaktree Capital. Fitness First continues to operate in India today as one of Cult.fit’s luxury formats.
Expect larger spaces, group classes throughout the day and more premium features than your local neighborhood gym. The downside is that there are fewer Fitness First locations than mass-market chains, and the price point is higher. If you live near one, it can still offer one of the best gym experiences in India.
Known for:
✔ Spacious premium clubs
✔ Wide group-exercise schedules
✔ A premium tier within the Cult.fit network
Best for: members who want a full-service club and are willing to pay for it.
6. Vault by Virat Kohli
Vault is the youngest brand on this list and one of the fastest growing. Established in 2023 by fitness industry veteran Mukesh Gogia, Vault is a franchise-led premium chain. In July 2026, cricketer Virat Kohli and his brother Vikas Kohli bought a combined 28% stake. At the time, the company had 30 operational clubs and said it aimed to have more than 50 open by the end of 2026.
Vault clubs are big, ranging from about 6,000 sq ft to 25,000 sq ft, with a focus on strength, functional fitness and recovery. Locations can be found in Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Gorakhpur, and Vault has been expanding across Haryana and Uttarakhand. It opened its fourth Gurugram club in September 2026; the roughly 7,000 sq ft location in Sector 70 features Matrix strength and cardio equipment. The brand says it plans to expand further into tier-three cities.
Known for:
✔ Premium design and modern equipment
✔ Strength, functional and recovery zones
✔ Rapid expansion beyond the metros
Best for: members in growing cities who want a premium gym without a metro address.
7. F45 Training
F45 Training does things differently. Started in Australia in 2011 and now based in Austin, Texas, F45 runs workouts that last 45 minutes. Classes combine high-intensity interval training, circuit training and functional movements. Members move through stations, and every session is coached. The first Indian F45 studio opened in Hyderabad in June 2016, and the company reported around 1,600 studios globally in 2024.
There’s no free-weight floor to wander around. You book a class, arrive and follow the screens at each station and the coach. Location-data firm GapMaps counted 29 F45 sites in India in 2023. The format can work really well if you find motivation hard on your own, but it may feel restrictive if you like lifting heavy weights for hours on end.
Known for:
✔ 45-minute coached group workouts
✔ A mix of cardio-focused and strength-focused sessions
✔ A strong community feel
Best for: people who want structure, a coach and a fixed time slot.
8. Ozone Fitness ‘n’ Spa
Indian fitness chain Ozone offers spa services alongside its gyms. Ozone Spa Pvt. Ltd., which operates the brand, was incorporated in November 2002. Since then, it has expanded through a combination of company-owned and franchised clubs. Its franchise listing names locations in Delhi, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Ludhiana, Rohtak and Bhiwadi.
Its message is more about holistic wellness than bodybuilding or weight loss. Ozone gyms have the strength and cardio spaces you’d expect, but many clubs also offer spa and relaxation facilities. If you see working out as part of a wider self-care routine, Ozone could be a good fit. The brand is concentrated in north India, so options to join elsewhere are limited. Ozone clubs don’t all have the same facilities, so it’s worth seeing what’s on offer at your local club before you join.
Known for:
✔ Gym and spa under one roof
✔ Premium interiors in its flagship clubs
✔ A strong base in Delhi NCR and Haryana
Best for: members who want recovery and relaxation alongside their workouts.
9. MultiFit
You won’t find banks of machines at MultiFit studios. Instead, co-founders Dr Samir Kapoor and Sally Jones-Kapoor chose to focus on functional movement and strength training. Both moved into fitness from banking careers and retrained as personal trainers. They started MultiFit in July 2015, and the brand’s early Indian studios opened in Pune, Mumbai, Delhi and Jaipur. Today, it has studios in India, the UK and the UAE, through a mix of company-owned and franchised gyms.
Its classes span HIIT, strength, yoga, indoor cycling and bodyweight training (calisthenics). The brand has long emphasized hiring trainers with athletic backgrounds. If you like training with others in small groups and want to move better and train more like an athlete, MultiFit could work for you. Because many locations are franchised, check the trainer team and class timetable at your nearest studio.
Known for:
✔ Functional and athletic-style training
✔ Coach-led group sessions
✔ A mix of company-owned and franchise studios
Best for: people who want performance-focused training in small groups.
10. Crunch Fitness
Crunch Fitness is the newest international brand on this list. The New York-headquartered chain, which has more than 500 gyms worldwide, signed a master franchise agreement for India in February 2025 with plans to open at least 75 gyms in the coming years. The India business is led by Nikhil Kakkar, a former COO of Gold’s Gym India, and his business partner Dr Umesh Kansal.
Crunch opened its first Indian club, a 6,500 sq ft gym in Noida, in 2025, with a second Noida location planned next. The brand is known worldwide for its “No Judgments” approach, which aims to make gyms less intimidating for beginners, and for creative group classes. It is still early, and the network is small, but the backing and the planned pipeline make Crunch one of the brands to watch in 2026.
Known for:
✔ A beginner-friendly “No Judgments” culture
✔ Group fitness classes
✔ An experienced Indian leadership team
Best for: first-time gym-goers in Delhi NCR.
How to Choose the Right Gym in India: A Buyer’s Guide
One great gym brand may still have poorly maintained or overcrowded branches. Even the most reliable chains aren’t perfect in every city. Check these items off your list before you hand over your money.
Location and Timings
The ideal gym is the one you actually go to. Choose a location within a short trip of home or work, and drop in at the time you’d normally exercise to see how busy it gets. A gym that’s quiet at noon might be crowded at 7 p.m. If you work nights or odd hours, ask whether the gym offers round-the-clock access and whether staff are on site at night.
Trainer Qualifications
Ask which certifications the trainers hold, and make sure they come from credible fitness bodies such as ACE, NASM, ACSM or K11. Ask how long the trainer has been with that branch. A good trainer will take notes on your health history and goals before giving you a plan. They won’t just hand you a preset routine sheet.
Trial Passes
Many gym chains offer a free or paid trial session or a short-term pass. Take them up on it. See if the equipment you plan to use is available when you’ll normally visit. Are classes overbooked? Are staff courteous to beginners? An app-based pass such as cultpass also lets you try several gyms in your city before you settle on one.
Contract Terms and Refunds
Read the fine print before buying a long-term plan. Does the gym let you freeze your membership? If you move, can you transfer it to a different branch? What are the refund terms, and what happens if the branch closes? Many members lost money when gyms shut down suddenly in recent years, so avoid paying for a very long term upfront if you don’t know the branch well. Get any promises in writing.
Hygiene and Safety
Start your inspection in the changing rooms. Are the showers clean? Then look at the gym floor. Are mats and benches well kept? Are disinfectant spray and towels available? Is the air conditioning working, and is the ventilation good? Is there a first-aid kit, and do staff know how to use it? Finally, ask when the equipment was last serviced.
Your Own Goals
The World Health Organization recommends that adults get 150 to 300 minutes of moderate activity, or 75 to 150 minutes of vigorous activity, every week, plus muscle-strengthening work on at least two days. You can read the full WHO physical activity guidelines online. Choose a gym whose format makes it easy for you to hit those targets, whether that is a weight floor, group classes or 24/7 access.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which is the biggest gym chain in India in 2026?
Cult.fit is the largest. Its IPO filing reported 708 fitness centres in 77 cities as of March 31, 2026, including company-owned, franchise and partner gyms. Anytime Fitness is the largest 24/7 chain, with more than 200 clubs in over 45 cities as of October 2026.
Is Talwalkars still operating?
Talwalkars Better Value Fitness went through insolvency proceedings, and an NCLT order dated February 26, 2026, cancelled its existing equity shares and approved a new board. The listed company reported no revenue for the half-year ended September 30, 2025. It is no longer a leading national gym chain.
Who owns Gold’s Gym and Fitness First in India?
Both are part of the Cult.fit group. CureFit took over Fitness First’s Indian business in 2018, and Cult.fit took a majority stake in Gold’s Gym’s Indian master franchise company in 2022. Cult.fit now runs both as premium formats.
How much does a gym membership cost in India?
Fees vary widely by city, branch, plan length and whether a club is franchise-run, so there is no single national price. Ask the branch for a written quote, compare monthly and annual plans and check for joining fees before you sign.
Are 24/7 gyms worth it?
They are worth it if your schedule is irregular. Brands such as Anytime Fitness and Snap Fitness let members train at any hour. If you only train at fixed times, a regular club with more classes may offer better value.
Conclusion
The Indian gym market in 2026 is bigger, more organized and more competitive than ever. Cult.fit has built a network that no rival comes close to, Anytime Fitness has made 24/7 training normal in dozens of cities, and newer names such as Vault and Crunch are bringing fresh money and ideas. At the same time, the fall of Talwalkars is a reminder that a famous name is no guarantee of a safe membership.
