Maruti Suzuki October Sales Hit Record 2.76 Lakh Units; Exports Up 59%
Maruti Suzuki October sales rose 25% to a record 2,76,120 units as utility vehicles grew 26% and exports jumped 59%, the company said on 1 November.

Maruti Suzuki October sales rose 25% year-on-year to 2,76,120 units, the carmaker’s highest-ever monthly volume, the company said on 1 November, with exports jumping 59% during the festive month.
The total compares with 2,20,894 units sold in October 2025, according to the company’s monthly sales release. Domestic passenger vehicle (PV) dispatches reached an all-time high of 2,12,384 units, up 20% from 1,76,318 units a year earlier.
Total domestic sales, including light commercial vehicles, stood at 2,16,789 units. Adding the 9,459 units supplied to other OEMs takes total domestic dispatches to 2,26,248 units for the month.
Maruti Suzuki is India’s largest carmaker and a subsidiary of Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corporation. Its OEM supplies, which go to Toyota, rose 6% to 9,459 units from 8,915 units a year earlier.
Utility Vehicles Lead Maruti Suzuki October Sales Growth
Utility vehicles such as the Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx and Grand Vitara were the fastest-growing segment. Their sales rose 26% to 97,787 units from 77,571 units in October 2025.
Mini, compact and mid-size cars together sold 1,00,877 units, up 18% from 85,210 units. Sales of the Eeco van edged up to 13,720 units, while the Super Carry light commercial vehicle sold 4,405 units.
Maruti Suzuki exports were the standout. Overseas shipments rose 59% to 49,872 units from 31,304 units, and made up about 18% of the company’s total volume in the month, compared with about 14% a year ago.
Compared with September 2026, Maruti Suzuki October sales were up 17% from 2,36,013 units, and domestic PV sales were also up 17% from 1,81,838 units, AutocarPro reported. Exports were up 13% from 44,219 units.
For the April–October period of FY27, Maruti’s total sales rose about 27% to 16,55,498 units from 12,99,629 units, according to DriveSpark’s reading of company data. Exports over the seven months grew about 18% to 2,82,727 units.
Over the same seven months, domestic PV sales rose about 33% to 12,92,624 units, and utility vehicle sales climbed about 40% to 5,53,479 units. Supplies to other OEMs, however, fell to 55,722 units from 67,778 units.
Why Maruti’s Record Matters for the Auto Industry
The record came in a strong month for passenger vehicle sales across the market. Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer at Maruti Suzuki, estimated industry volumes for October at 5.25–5.30 lakh units, according to Auto India Daily.
Industry-wide, domestic PV sales rose 28.3% to 20.55 lakh units in the first half of the fiscal year, the publication said, helped by lower GST rates, cheaper borrowing and income tax changes that have improved affordability.
Rivals also reported gains in October auto sales. Hyundai Motor India’s total sales rose 17.7% to 82,299 units, including 19,500 exports, while Mahindra & Mahindra sold 73,338 SUVs in the domestic market, its highest-ever monthly figure, Autocar India reported.
Not every carmaker grew at the same pace. Mahindra’s domestic SUV volume was up only about 2.4% from 71,624 units, while Toyota’s domestic sales fell 26.7% to 29,521 units, according to Autocar India’s data.
Part of October’s strength came from dealers building stock ahead of Dhanteras and Diwali, which fall in the first half of November this year. Gaurav Vangaal, Associate Director at Mobility Global, said such stocking contributed significantly to October wholesales.
Maruti Suzuki October sales growth also came on a high base. Sales in October 2025 had been lifted by buyers who postponed purchases until the GST rate cuts took effect in late September 2025.
For investors, the export surge is the key takeaway. A larger overseas share makes Maruti less dependent on the domestic cycle, which has been driven this year by festive and tax-led demand.
What Comes Next for Maruti Suzuki
Retail registration data for November, which will capture Dhanteras and Diwali, will show how much of October’s dispatches turned into actual sales to customers. High dealer stocks could weigh on wholesales later in the year if retail demand cools.
Investors will also watch whether exports keep up their pace and how the company’s product mix of utility vehicles and small cars holds up. Separately, electric two-wheeler maker Ather Energy recently turned profitable, adding to signs of strength across the automobile sector. Read more in our business news section.

Note: Fact & grammar check done — 3 corrections (investor-takeaway sentence reworded for clarity; segment figures limited to release-based data; conflicting Tata Motors figure removed). Phrasly did not run on this article because the account required human verification. Flags: (1) Tata Motors’ October PV figure conflicts across sources (73,002 vs 73,894 units), so Tata was left out. (2) Auto India Daily gives segment figures (SUVs 73,058; small cars 40,646) that conflict with Maruti’s release; the release-based figures (UVs 97,787) were used. (3) Partho Banerjee’s 5.25–5.30 lakh industry estimate and Gaurav Vangaal’s comment are paraphrased by Auto India Daily, not direct quotes. (4) Segment-level splits come from AutocarPro/DriveSpark, as the release table is an image. (5) Auto India Daily’s 28.3% H1 industry growth figure was not cross-checked with SIAM data.
