No Merit List Released

This year, CBSE has announced that there will be no Merit List released for CBSE 10th and 12th Board Result 2023. This decision was taken due to the ongoing pandemic situation and the cancellation of the CBSE Board exams for some subjects. The board has followed the alternative assessment criteria based on internal assessments, practicals, and previous year’s performance to calculate the students’ results.

Alternative Assessment Criteria

The alternative assessment criteria for CBSE Result 2023 were announced by the board on June 17th. The board had proposed two assessment options for the students of class 10th and 12th, out of which the schools were required to choose one.

  1. The first option was based on the student’s performance in the school-based examinations, practicals, and internal assessments.
  2. The second option was based on the school’s historical data of the last three years of class 10th and 12th board examinations. The schools were required to submit the assessment marks to the board by June 30th and the board was responsible for declaring the results by July 31st.

Challenges Faced by Students and Teachers

The announcement of the alternative assessment criteria for CBSE Result 2023 was met with mixed reactions from the students and teachers. While some students welcomed the decision, others were disappointed with the criteria as they felt that their hard work and efforts were not reflected in the assessment process.

The teachers also faced several challenges while calculating the assessment marks, as the process was time-consuming and required the analysis of a vast amount of data.

How to calculate percentage of class 10th and 12th marks?

To calculate the percentage of marks obtained in an exam, you need to follow these steps:

  • Step 1: Add the total marks of all the subjects in which you have appeared for the exam.
  • Step 2: Calculate the total marks obtained in all the subjects.
  • Step 3: Divide the total marks obtained by the total marks of all the subjects and multiply by 100.

For example, let’s assume a student has appeared in five subjects and obtained the following marks:

  • English: 85 out of 100
  • Mathematics: 90 out of 100
  • Science: 92 out of 100
  • Social Science: 87 out of 100
  • Hindi: 80 out of 100

To calculate the percentage of marks obtained by the student, follow these steps:

Step 1: Add the total marks of all the subjects: 100+100+100+100+100 = 500

Step 2: Calculate the total marks obtained in all the subjects: 85+90+92+87+80 = 434

Step 3: Divide the total marks obtained by the total marks of all the subjects and multiply by 100: (434/500) x 100 = 86.8%

Therefore, the percentage of marks obtained by the student in this example is 86.8%.

Bottom line

Students should follow the necessary steps to check their results and calculate their percentage accurately. While the result announcement may bring joy to some students, it may also disappoint some who did not pass. However, it is important to remember that a single exam does not define a student’s worth or future prospects. There are several paths to success, and students should not lose hope and keep striving towards their goals.
