Avenue Supermarts Ltd, the operator of the DMart retail chain, reported an 8.5% year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit to ₹743.6 crore for the July–September quarter of FY27, helped by continued store additions. The company had posted a profit of ₹685 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Its board approved the results on Saturday, October 10.

Consolidated revenue from operations rose 17.8% to ₹19,644 crore, compared with ₹16,676.3 crore a year earlier. EBITDA grew 14.7% to ₹1,393 crore from ₹1,214 crore, while the EBITDA margin slipped about 20 basis points to 7.1% from 7.3%.

Store additions drive sales

The value retailer opened 15 stores during the quarter, taking its network to 518 stores as of September 30, 2026, against 503 at the end of June. The count includes its Sanpada outlet in Navi Mumbai, which is currently closed for reconstruction.

The topline had been signalled by the quarterly business update the company released on October 3. In that disclosure, DMart said standalone revenue rose 18.4% to ₹19,206.2 crore from ₹16,218.8 crore a year ago, and 4.7% from ₹18,343.5 crore in the June quarter. The pace was faster than the roughly 15.4% growth it reported in the September quarters of both FY25 and FY26.

For the first half of FY27, consolidated revenue increased about 16.4% to nearly ₹38,439 crore, while net profit rose about 9.9% to around ₹1,603 crore, according to the reported figures.

Margins remain in focus

Profit growth trailing sales growth has been a recurring pattern for the retailer. In the September quarter of FY26, DMart’s net profit rose about 4% while revenue grew around 15%, and in the June quarter of that year profit was marginally lower despite a 16.2% rise in revenue.

The company’s results statement did not attribute the latest margin dip to specific cost heads such as employee expenses, logistics or pricing. Investors are also expected to track any commentary on DMart Ready, its online grocery business, as quick-commerce platforms expand in the cities where DMart operates.

DMart’s stores are spread across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, the National Capital Region, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Rajasthan. The company had a market capitalisation of about ₹2.29 lakh crore as of October 10, according to NSE data.

What comes next

The stock is expected to react to the numbers when markets open on Monday, October 12, with brokerages likely to revise their estimates in the days that follow. Attention will then turn to the October–December quarter, which covers the festive shopping season and is typically the strongest period for discretionary and general merchandise sales.

The pace of new store openings, trends in same-store sales and any recovery in operating margins are likely to be the key metrics analysts watch over the remainder of FY27.
