Uttar Pradesh will likely experience substantial economic growth following the ‘pran pratishtha’ of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, with tourism being a key factor in this development. Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has revealed that the state is anticipated to generate ₹25,000 crore in tax income in the 2019 financial year. He attributes most of this rise to the rising importance of Ayodhya.
According to an SBI Research report, Uttar Pradesh is expected to gain ₹4 lakh crore in revenue this year as a result of Ayodhya’s rise as a popular tourist destination, the building of the Ram temple, and the development of other infrastructure, including an international airport.
With an anticipated yearly migration of about five crore devotees, international stock market research firm Jefferies projected that Ayodhya would overtake Vatican City and Mecca in terms of devotee foot traffic. The Saryu river runs through the temple town, which has seen substantial infrastructural development. Notable features include the international airport, new hotels, better road connectivity, and a renovated train station.
The study contrasted Ayodhya’s potential with that of other well-known religious sites, pointing out that it is predicted to draw more pilgrims each year than the combined numbers of the Tirupati Balaji temple in Andhra Pradesh, Vaishno Devi in Jammu and Kashmir, the Taj Mahal in Agra, and the Agra Fort. According to the projection, more than one lakh devotees are anticipated to visit Ayodhya every day, and in the not too distant future, this figure may rise to three lakh devotees every day. Should this come to be, Ayodhya would welcome more than 10 crore devotees each year, which would be extremely beneficial to the local economy.
