Jio Platforms Listing: Shares Debut at ₹1,358, a 21.36% Premium
Jio Platforms listing: shares debuted at ₹1,358 on the NSE and BSE, a 21.36% premium to the ₹1,119 issue price of India’s largest-ever IPO.

Jio Platforms shares debuted at ₹1,358 on the NSE and BSE on Wednesday, October 28, a 21.36% premium to the ₹1,119 issue price of India’s largest-ever IPO. The Jio Platforms listing gives allottees a gain of ₹2,868 on each lot of 12 shares.
The Reliance Industries subsidiary raised ₹30,213 crore through a fresh issue of 27 crore equity shares, with no offer-for-sale component. The shares were sold in a price band of ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 each, and the stock trades under the NSE symbol JPL.
Strong institutional demand drove Jio IPO listing gains
The issue was subscribed 22.19 times overall, according to NSE data, with bids for about 438.26 crore shares against roughly 19.75 crore on offer. Qualified institutional buyers bid for 70.55 times their quota, while non-institutional investors subscribed 14 times and retail investors 2.72 times.
Before the public offer opened, the company raised ₹8,109.85 crore from anchor investors. They included Life Insurance Corporation of India, the Government of Singapore, the Monetary Authority of Singapore, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, BlackRock, Fidelity and Capital Group. Kotak Mahindra Capital was the book running lead manager on the issue, working alongside 18 other firms including Morgan Stanley, BofA Securities and Axis Capital.
The three-day issue opened on October 21 and closed on Friday, October 23, with bidding hours extended to 9 am to 7 pm. It was fully subscribed within two hours of opening on the first day, and the basis of allotment was finalised on Tuesday, October 27, ahead of the listing.
The offer set records on several fronts. At ₹30,213 crore, it overtook Hyundai Motor India’s issue as the country’s largest IPO, and it set aside ₹2,500 crore of shares for Reliance Industries shareholders, the biggest such quota so far, according to Upstox.
What the Jio Platforms listing means for Reliance
Of the money raised, ₹27,500 crore will go towards prepaying borrowings of Reliance Jio Infocomm, the group’s telecom arm and a material subsidiary of Jio Platforms. The rest is earmarked for general corporate purposes, which means the issue mainly works to cut debt at the operating company.
Reliance Industries, the promoter, held 66.43% of Jio Platforms before the issue, and that stake falls to 64.48% after the fresh issue, according to IPO data compiled by Chittorgarh. At the top of the price band, the offer valued Jio Platforms at about ₹10.3 lakh crore, Upstox reported.
Restated consolidated figures show that Jio Platforms earned total income of ₹1,49,759.10 crore in FY26, up from ₹1,29,333 crore a year earlier. Profit after tax rose to ₹30,052.70 crore from ₹26,120.30 crore over the same period, according to the offer details.
The Jio Platforms listing gives investors direct access to Reliance’s telecom and digital services business, which until now could only be tracked through the parent. Its listed domestic peers in digital connectivity are Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea, which will now be compared directly with Jio on valuation.
For Indian companies planning large share sales, the strong institutional demand is an encouraging signal. The debut came on a weak morning for benchmark indices, with the Sensex opening more than 300 points lower as IT shares dragged, according to India TV. Even so, the premium shows that investors were willing to back a large issue despite broader market caution.
Jio Platforms share price: what happens next
Jio Platforms will declare its September quarter results on Friday, October 30, according to a Reliance Industries filing. Investors who followed the opening of the Jio Platforms IPO will now look to those numbers, its first as a listed company, to judge whether the Jio Platforms share price can hold its listing-day premium. Details of the offer are set out in the company’s draft offer document filed with SEBI. More business news is available on our site.
