HCLTech on Monday, October 12, reported a 21.2% year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit to ₹5,132 crore for the July–September quarter (Q2 FY27), up from ₹4,235 crore a year earlier. The Noida-headquartered IT services company also declared an interim dividend of ₹12 per share.

Revenue from operations grew 11.5% to ₹35,620 crore from ₹31,942 crore in the same quarter last year. Sequentially, revenue was up from ₹34,579 crore in the June quarter, while net profit rose about 11%.

Margins, deals and AI revenue

Profitability improved during the quarter. EBIT came in at ₹6,465 crore and the EBIT margin widened 131 basis points quarter-on-quarter to 18.2%, according to the company’s disclosures. On a year-on-year basis, the margin was 71 bps higher.

New deal bookings stood at $3.258 billion, a 27% increase over the year-ago quarter, taking first-half bookings to a record. Revenue from advanced AI services reached $219 million, growing 78% year-on-year and 28.4% sequentially in constant currency.

“Our AI propositions are resonating well with our clients,” said C Vijayakumar, CEO and Managing Director, adding that this gave the company confidence in its growth trajectory. Chief Financial Officer Shiv Walia credited the rise in profitability and return on invested capital to a focus on capital efficiency, Kotak Neo reported.

Chairperson Roshni Nadar Malhotra said the faster growth in advanced AI revenue supported the company’s strategy of investing across the AI stack and building partnerships. Alongside the results, HCLTech announced a Global Premier Partnership with Anthropic covering agentic AI, including a dedicated business unit and a centre of excellence, according to Business Today.

Segment performance and guidance

The IT and business services segment generated ₹26,938 crore in revenue, compared with ₹23,693 crore a year ago. Engineering and R&D services rose to ₹5,973 crore from ₹5,423 crore.

HCL Software was the weak spot. Its revenue slipped to ₹2,709 crore from ₹2,826 crore, a decline of 11.2% in constant currency, though annual recurring revenue for the business rose 7.8% to $1.134 billion.

The company added 6,450 employees during the quarter, taking its total headcount to 230,339. It retained its FY27 outlook of 2.5–4% revenue growth and 3–4% services growth in constant currency, with an EBIT margin band of 17.5–18.5%.

HCLTech shares rose about 0.5% on Monday ahead of the announcement. The results come days after the US Department of Labor named HCL Technologies among eight employers whose permanent labour certification (PERM) applications it would stop processing, a move that has put the spotlight on Indian IT firms’ US operations.

What comes next

The ₹12 dividend is the company’s second interim payout for FY27. The record date is October 16, 2026, and the payment is scheduled for October 26.

Investors will watch the stock’s reaction to the margin expansion and steady guidance, and whether AI-led deal momentum holds as peers report their September-quarter numbers over the coming weeks.
